Softball Falls to Georgia Tech, 12-2

ATLANTA, Ga. - - Belmont (5-15), was overpowered by a hard-hitting Georgia Tech team, 12-2 on Sunday afternoon in the Georgia Tech Buckhead Classic.

Two big innings, a five-run first and a five run second inning, propelled the Yellow Jackets into the lead. Belmont got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning when junior Ashley Byers hit her seventh home run of the season, a two-run shot off the scoreboard in right field.

With the loss, Belmont fell to 0-4 on the weekend and 1-5 in week five. The next game for the Bruins will be a single-game contest on the road at Austin Peay. Belmont is 1-1 against the Lady Govs this season. That game will begin at 6 p.m. in Clarksville on Wednesday, March 16th. The Bruins will return to Nashville the following day for a double-header against Southeast Missouri State. Both games will again be held on the campus of Tennessee State due to construction at Rose Park. The first game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. with the second game to follow at approximately 3 p.m. The double-header will be played on Thursday, March 17th.
