NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's tennis team fell to #15 Vanderbilt 6-1 in their season opener held Tuesday afternoon at the Currey Tennis Center on the Vanderbilt campus.
Vanderbilt (4-0) won the first point of the match as they won two of the three doubles matches. The lone Belmont doubles win came at number three as junior
Catherine Holliday and senior Abbey Hogan defeated Elizabeth Lillie and Megan Gornet 8-2.
In singles, the Commodores won five of the six matches to clinch the 6-1 victory over the Bruins. BU did win at number six singles as Catherine Holliday defeated Elizabeth Lillie 6-0, 6-0.
Belmont (0-1) returns to the court this Sunday as they play at Kentucky. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:00am CT.
