Box Score PEORIA, Ill. - - Behind a complete game two-hitter from starting pitcher 
Emma Summers, Belmont University Softball defeated Bradley, 1-0, Friday night from Louisville Slugger Sports Complex.
 
Summers struck out five in facing only three more than the minimum in recording her 24
th career complete game and sixth shutout.
 
Belmont got on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning, as 
Emily Cockrill powered a two-out, RBI double to score 
Baie Ensio.
 
The Bruins threatened to increase the lead in the fourth, as 
Brenna Blume and 
Daria Haynie provided back-to-back singles. But pinch runner 
Savannah Halterman and Haynie were stranded in scoring position.
 
Summers worked out of a major jam in the sixth inning, as a Bailey Sample double and a Grace French walk had Bradley poised to equalize.
 
But Summers buckled down, retiring Lauren DeRolf and Kierston McCoy to preserve the one-run lead.
 
Though the Bruins missed out on promising scoring opportunities in the sixth and seventh innings, Summers closed the deal with a 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh.
 
Blume led Belmont offensively going 3-for-3 from the plate. Ensio was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
 
Belmont stole five bases in the game.
 
Belmont (25-23) plays Bradley Saturday in game two of the weekend series. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
