SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - - The No. 4 Belmont Bruins (9-10-2, 5-4-1 MVC) faced the MVC regular season champion and top-seeded Missouri State Bears (12-4-3, 9-0-1) in a semifinal match of the conference tournament. The Bears struck twice in the first half and held Belmont scoreless to win, 2-0.
Scoring Action
Belmont applied early pressure and was resilient on defense. The Bruins kept Missouri State on their toes for the first 20 minutes of the half. Counterattacks and pressure from the Bears led to Missouri State's Julia Kristensen scoring the match's first goal in the 22
nd minute, assisted by Jane Hansen.
The Bears scored an insurance goal shortly after in the 36
th minute. Maggie O'Keefe notched her second goal of the season courtesy of an assist by Jenna Anderson.
