NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University Softball Program (21-7, 5-0 MVC) secured a series win against Murray State (9-15, 1-4 MVC) on Tuesday after topping the Racers 8-0 in six innings. The Bruins' win extends their win streak to ten as they remain perfect in conference play.

How it Happened
The Belmont offense got off to a hot start in the bottom of the first inning.
Baie Ensio led off the inning with a single to center before eventually stealing second base.
Nicole Hughes later drove in a 2 RBI single to give the Bruins an early lead.
Maddy Balsiger recorded another RBI for Belmont to extend the lead at 3-0 heading into the second.

Maya Johnson continued to show her dominance early as she recorded her sixth strikeout of the day to keep Murray State scoreless through two innings.

The Bruins broke the game wide open in the bottom of the third with four runs.
Emily Cockrill got the Belmont offense going with her first home run of the season.
Grace Gressly later added a huge 2 RBI double before
Madison Dolecki would record an RBI of her own. Belmont took a commanding 7-0 lead after the third.Â

The Racers held the Bruins scoreless in the fourth and seventh to avoid an early run-rule decision.Â

In the top of the sixth, Johnson recorded two more strikeouts compiling 12 on the day. Despite Murray State's attempts to avoid a run-rule, Hughes would eventually hit a walk-off single to secure an 8-0 win in six innings for Belmont.Â
