NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Â Belmont Baseball split Sunday's doubleheader against Wofford at E.S. Rose Park, rallying late to take the opener before falling in the series finale. Belmont edged the Terriers 3-2 in game one before Wofford claimed game two 11-1.

Game 1:
Belmont used a pair of late home runs and strong pitching to secure a 3-2 victory in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader.
Wofford struck first in the opening inning, plating two runs on an RBI bunt single from Niko Brini and a sacrifice fly by Hunter Herndon to take a 2-0 lead.
The Bruins responded in the bottom half when Jake Maddox doubled to left field to bring home Charlie Davis and cut the deficit to 2-1.
Belmont evened the game in the fifth inning as Davis launched a solo home run to left field, tying the game at 2-2. One inning later, Mike Sprockett gave the Bruins their first lead of the day, blasting a solo homer in the sixth to put Belmont ahead 3-2. Belmont's pitching staff made the lead hold.
Owen Cavey worked five innings allowing just two runs (one earned) while striking out five. McKale Stevenson earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief, and Cavey was credited with the save. Davis finished with two runs scored and the game-tying homer, while Maddox added two hits and an RBI in the win.
Game 2:
Wofford bounced back in the nightcap, using a big offensive performance to defeat Belmont 11-1. The Terriers jumped ahead early when Ben Timblin launched a two-run homer in the first inning to give Wofford a 2-0 lead. Wofford added three more runs in the third inning, highlighted by RBI hits from Niko Brini, Ben Timblin and Hunter Herndon to extend the advantage to 5-0.
Belmont's lone run came in the third when Cavan McMeans connected on a solo home run to left field. The Terriers continued to build their lead with another run in the fifth before breaking the game open in the seventh inning with five more runs. Timblin and Herndon each drove in runs during the inning as Wofford pulled away for the 11-1 win. McMeans led Belmont offensively with two hits and the team's lone RBI, while Landon Godsey, Jake Maddox, Noah Burnham and Brady Holbrook each added a hit.
