Sean Cahill Joins Volleyball Program

Industry Veteran Brings Wealth of Experience to Fritz Rosenberg Coaching Staff

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University volleyball head coach Fritz Rosenberg announced Monday the addition of Sean Cahill as an assistant coach on the Bruin coaching staff.
 
Cahill is a volleyball industry veteran, with nearly two decades experience at the NCAA Division I and club levels.
 
"I couldn't be more excited to welcome Sean to our program," Rosenberg said. "He is an incredible teacher and coach who is committed to our mission of holistic student-athlete development. We are incredibly fortunate to have him leading into the competition season. I know he will be a tremendous addition to an already special group. Collectively, we are excited for the season ahead and look forward to swing all we can accomplish together."
 
Most recently, Cahill was in private business, providing consulting and leadership development services.
 
Previously, Cahill served as assistant coach at Marshall. During his time, the Thundering Herd defeated the likes of Georgetown, Saint Louis, Charlotte, UAB, Florida International, Southeastern Louisiana, and Northern Kentucky. Marshall led CUSA in blocks and ranked fourth in hitting percentage. He worked with outside hitter Ciara DeBell who was named AVCA All-Region and First Team All-CUSA.
 
Cahill spent six seasons as an assistant coach at traditional-rich UC San Diego. He helped the Tritons to two NCAA West Regional appearances and 11 victories over nationally-ranked opponents. Cahill also coached six AVCA All-America selections, including First Team All-American Danielle Dahle.
 
He also spent time as a volunteer assistant at Loyola Chicago. During the 2012 season, the Ramblers enjoyed a 13-win improvement over the previous campaign and advanced to the semifinals of the Horizon League tournament. Loyola Chicago earned victories over DePaul, Indiana State and Wright State among others. Four Ramblers earned All-Horizon League honors.
 
Cahill led the acclaimed San Diego Wave Volleyball Club from 2015-19, garnering two first-place finishes in the 18s division at the JVA World Challenge and the JVA West Coast Cup in 2016.
 
From 2010-12, he was the head coach of San Diego Volleyball Club, one of the premier women's clubs in Southern California. Cahill was also the head coach of Seaside Volleyball Club, a top men's program in the United States. His 15's squad placed 11th at the 2012 Junior Nationals.
 
Before moving to the West Coast, Cahill was the head coach of Chicago Bounce Volleyball Club and a volunteer assistant coach at Glenbard East High School (IL) from 2008-10. 
 
Cahill played for the men's club volleyball team at Ball State from 2006-08, also serving as the program's head coach and vice president. Ball State placed 11th at the 2008 NIRSA Division I-AA Championships and 21st in 2007.
 
A member of the Dean's Honor List, Cahill earned a bachelor of science degree in physical education from Ball State in 2008. He held minors in adapted physical education and multicultural education. He earned his master's in coaching and administration from Concordia of Irvine in 2016.
 
Cahill is a native of the Chicago area.
