Austin Smalling returns to Belmont University Athletics in Fall 2024 for his second year as a graduate assistant for Gameday Operations and Facilities.
Austin assists with gameday operations for six different sports, including serving as Game Administrator for Women’s Basketball, Volleyball, and Softball. His responsibilities outside of gameday operations include managing, recruiting, and mentoring student operation managers, assisting in the coordination of visiting teams at the CURB Event Center and E.S. Rose Park, and communicating with and confirming details for officials and visiting teams.
Prior to his role at Belmont, Austin served as a Manager of Football Operations at Vanderbilt University, where he assisted with day-to-day operations, travel logistics, and practice coordination. He also worked as a Student Equipment Manager for Vanderbilt Football the year prior.
He majored in Sport Administration with a minor in Corporate Communications. As an undergraduate, he served as Treasurer of the Sport Admin Club and participated in the 2022 and 2024 Applied Sport Management Conferences.
During his time as a Graduate Assistant, he has also worked with Vanderbilt Athletics, assisting with Student-Athlete Development and supporting student-athletes in their transition in and out of college.
Austin is originally from Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, and graduated from Belmont as an undergraduate in 2023. He is pursuing a master’s degree in sport administration.
