Heather Copeland

Heather Copeland is in her 29th year with Belmont Athletics serving as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance.  

Copeland is responsible for monitoring departmental adherence to NCAA and Missouri Valley Conference rules and regulations. She is responsible for all aspects of the department’s NCAA compliance efforts for 17 varsity teams and approximately 270 student-athletes. Additionally, Copeland is responsible for monitoring and reporting NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR), not only in compiling data and preparing appropriate records, but also in projecting future rates and improvement strategies with coaches and the athletics department’s academic support staff.

As part of her promotion to Associate Athletic Director, Copeland also assuming sport oversight for softball and women's tennis.

Copeland began her career with the Bruins in the fall of 1997 as an assistant athletic trainer, working with the volleyball and women’s basketball teams. In 2000, the Marietta, Georgia, native moved into an administrative role as the assistant director of compliance. Copeland was hired as the director of compliance in June of 2006.

Copeland graduated from Samford University in 1995 and earned her master's degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1997.

Heather and her husband Bart have two daughters, Gigi and Kavi, and reside in Nashville.
