Box Score BOONE, N.C.---Belmont men's soccer faced off against Appalachian State University in a Tuesday night match up on the road.
The game began under cooling conditions up in the mountains of Boone, N.C., with the low falling into the low 40's for the match.
Belmont came out strong in the first half, controlling the much of the possession on the away pitch.
Belmont and ASU each had three shots in the first half.
The match stalemated in the first half with neither team able to muster the go ahead goal.
The second half started out unfortunate for the Bruins, as ASU's David Dodge scored what would be the game winner in the 46th minute of play. The goal was scored after a free kick just outside the 18 yard box was deflected and flicked on to Dodge.
Belmont would be able to field seven shots in the second half with near misses that included a potential equalizer by Cody Carpenter (Clinton, Miss.) that rung off the post in the closing minute of the game.
Belmont out shot the Mountaineers seven to five in the second half.
Despite the well-executed match by the Bruins, Appalachian State ousted Belmont 1-0.
The Bruins are back in action on the road against Easter Illinois University two weeks from today. The match is scheduled for October 30th at 2:00 p.m. and live stats will be available.
