JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Closing out a remarkable throwing career, Belmont University women's track and field's
Logan Gray took on her third consecutive NCAA Outdoor Championships East First Round shot put event Friday morning at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. The senior had a strong second throw and earned a top-25 finish among a highly-talented field of 48.

Each of the 12 shot put qualifiers surpassed 16.80m.

On her second attempt, Gray threw for 51 feet (15.54m) to finish ahead of 23 other top throwers from the eastern half of the nation.

Reaching the NCAA East First Round in the shot put each year as a Bruin, the Spartanburg, South Carolina (Spartanburg HS), native captured five silver and one bronze medal between the Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor and Indoor Championships. Gray finishes with both the outdoor (54 feet, 3.75 inches, 16.55m) and indoor (53 feet, 16.15m) shot put school records.

The shot put was originally scheduled for Thursday evening but had to be pushed to Friday morning due to thunderstorms.

The 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships East First Round concludes Saturday in the Sunshine State with graduate distance runners
Grace Litzinger and
Brooke Garter racing. Litzinger's 3000m steeplechase is set to begin at 4:40 p.m. CT/5:40 p.m. ET, while Garter's 5000m race is scheduled to start at 7:10 p.m. CT/8:10 p.m. ET. Litzinger is in the first heat of her race and Garter is in the second semifinal/heat of the 5000m.
