NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - The Commodore Challenge this past weekend saw impressive performances from the Belmont University Women's Track and Field team in their first indoor meet of this season.
Six Bruins placed in the top five in their event.
Senior
Logan Gray was the top performer in the field with a second-place finish in weight throw with a 19.19-meter performance. Graduate student
Rebekah Stucker finished fourth in the same event with 18.26 meters.
Senior
McKenna Prouty finished fifth in the high jump with a 1.61-meter result.
Senior
Nicola van der Merwe finished fifth in the pole vault with a 3.35-meter mark.
Graduate student
Brooke Garter put up a 4:47.60 mile time for place second, just .40 seconds behind first place.
Sophomore
Alexa Fortman broke a personal and program record in the 600 meters with a time of 1:32.11. The program record was previously set in 2020 by Payton Barlow with a time of 1:35.08.
Freshmen
Devin Moore and
Jennifer Mims saw their first collegiate action over the weekend. Moore competed in the 400 meters and put up a time of 59.65 seconds. Mims finished the 300 meters with a time of 40.44 seconds.
The Bruins return to the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility on Jan. 17-18 for the Vanderbilt Invitational.
