Women’s Track and Field Wraps Up Weekend at PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational

Bruins Continue to Elevate in Indoor Season, Two Program Records Broken and One Tied

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The Belmont University women's track and field team spent the weekend at Louisville and competed in the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational. The field – consisting of thirty schools with nine from the Power Four level – gave the Bruins another chance to elevate their performance among the region's best.

The weekend was highlighted by sophomore Carlota Salgado García, setting a program record in the pentathlon with 3,670 points. Garcia's performance included a 1.73-meter high jump that tied Lilian Linklater's indoor program record at the 2014 Gladstein Invitational.  She also set personal records in the 60-meter hurdles, 800 meters and shot put.

Sophomore Alexa Fortman broke another program record with a time of 2:10.75 in the 800 meters.

Senior Logan Gray claimed the top spot in the weight throw with a 19.67-meter effort. Gray also finished seventh in the shot put at 14.85 meters.

Senior Rebekah Stucker finished seventh in the weight throw (17.99 meters) and tenth in the shot put (14.15 meters).

Graduate Student Grace Litzinger finished second in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:47.75. Sophomore Rachel Soukup finished fifth in the event with a personal best of her own at 4:49.79.

Sophomore Clara Crain placed third in the 5,000 meters for her time of 17:30.9.

Graduate student Chelsea Mitchell finished fourth in the long jump with a season-best result of 5.53 meters.

Senior McKenna Prouty finished eighth in the high jump (1.65 meters)

Graduate student Brooke Garter placed top 10 in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:50.73.

Several Bruins set personal bests in Louisville. Sophomore Anna Barr had her best performance in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.54 seconds. Freshman Lillie Fouts notched a 5:05.75-mile time. Senior Brooke Stromsland finished the 3,000 meters at 9:48.62.

The Bruins will return to action Feb. 14-15 at Vanderbilt for the Indoor Music City Challenge. Meet information, schedule, and live results can be found at belmontbruins.com.
