CHICAGO – The Belmont women's indoor track and field team posted several podium finishes and stands in fourth place as the Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship began Sunday in Chicago, Illinois.
The Bruins currently have 27 points.  Indiana State has the team lead with 67.
HIGHLIGHTS
In the weight throw, the Bruins earned silver and bronze medals.  Senior
Logan Gray placed second with a throw of 19.12 meters, while teammate
Rebekah Stucker was third at 18.64 meters.
In the pentathlon, sophomore Carlota Salgado Garcia earned runner-up honors as she finished with a school record mark of 3,768 points.  She won the long jump, took second in the 800 meters, and third in the high jump.
In the women's DMR, the Belmont team made up of
Rachel Soukup,
Jennifer Mims,
Alexa Fortman, and
Brooke Stromsland, finished fourth with a school record time of 11:36.70. Â
Among the preliminary races:
Grace Litzinger and
Brooke Garter qualified for the Mile final, while
Alexa Fortman advanced to the 800 meter final. Â
