CARBONDALE, Ill. - - Belmont University women's track and field and several strong performances on Day 1 of the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships from Lew Hartzog Track & Field Complex.

The Bruins were headlined by
Grace Litzinger winning gold in the 3000m steeplechase in grand style, outlasting Emma Hoins from Northern Iowa in a program-record time of 10:15.45.

Litzinger is an MVC champion in track and field and cross country.
Â
Kate Briscoe also delivered in a major way, besting her personal-record by nearly two meters in earning bronze in the javelin with a mark of 42.90m.

Rebekah Stucker earned points for the Bruins with a fourth-place finish in the discus with a mark of 46.18m. She has two event finals Sunday.

Belmont had a trio of runners qualify for event finals Sunday.

Alexa Fortman and
Sophia Harvey each qualified for the 800m finals, while
Brooke Garter placed third in the 1500m semifinal to easily move on.

Belmont stands sixth in the team standings after Day 1 with 21 points.
